Day Ten: Daydreaming about Ocho Rios

Since I laid eyes on Dunn’s river falls and the beach there, I have been fantasizing about the experience. It’s been two days already but I can’t take the images out of my mind. From the moment I got into the sea to the experience of climbing the falls, and the best moment was when I sweet talked a man so that I could get on the jet ski for free (I didn’t have anymore money!).

The Jet Ski experience is a must-try-again for me. Curtis helped me climb on the back and he sped away. I felt like I was moving with the wind and I screamed- Curtis must have thought I was scared but I told him, faster! Then he whipped the jet ski around making a sharp turn…oh man, I could have gone for hours, but he brought me back to the spot he picked me up. I told him I was going to dive into the water and that’s exactly what I did from the back of the jet ski, I swam back to my chaperone and shared with him how elated I was. After that experience I was ready for anything.

Harry was one of the workers, so I asked him if he could lead us up the falls. He wasn’t one of the guys giving the tours today. Instead, he told us that we could do it by ourselves and brought us down to where we should start. My chaperone appeared a little worried, but Harry reassured him that it  is safe and people do it all the time.

When I took the first step  on the falls, the ecstasy that surged through me was like electricity! I took the lead, while my chaperone followed. There were parts of the falls that seemed impossible with the strong currents of water flowing down, but I used my hands and feet to grip the rocks and made my way up. It was easy but a challenge nonetheless. This is a must-do when in Jamaica. I arrived at the top of the falls and continued even pass the finish line- I wanted to continue my climb. But soon I made my way out of the water, returned my rubber shoes that I had rented for  $600JA and found my way on the beach again. One more dip in the water, one more  swim towards the beach border. The facility was closing so we made our way up the stairs, changed our clothes, and took the two hour journey back to St. Catherine.

Going to St. Ann and visiting Dunn’s River falls is everybody’s dream when they come to Jamaica and somehow I had a chance to experience it. It was superb and like I said, a must-do-again. I can’t wait. It was worth all my money.

So yesterday even while going about my day to day activities: walking and exercise at 6am and prayer in the afternoon at Bethel United Church located in Kingston (South camp road), I was still daydreaming about ochi! The service was interesting because apparently every Wednesday, a prayer/fasting and deliverance service is held from 10:30- 2pm- every Wednesday!

Stay tuned for pictures of Ocho Rios!

Thank you for your response. Great to hear from you.
